Abdominal Ultrasound
1 hr1 h21 King Edward Street
Service Description
Abdominal ultrasound (or sonar) is a non-invasive procedure that allows a veterinarian to see inside a pet's abdomen without surgery. It's a safe way to check for problems in organs like the liver, spleen, kidneys, stomach, and intestines. Owners are welcome to stay and watch. Most patients are happy to lie on their side for us but a few need sedation. Some coat may need to be clipped so the sound waves used to generate the image can actually penetrate into the patient. If the patient is referred only for the ultrasound Dr Marlies writes a report that goes back to the primary vet and (s)he then continues with further investigations / treatment.
